The Historical Regata, which takes place every year on the first Sunday of September
in Venice, commemorates the welcome to Caterina Cornaro, Queen of Cyprus, who in 1489
renounced her throne in favor of Venice. This year is the 500th anniversary of the
death of Caterina Cornaro and to celebrate this event, Associazione Culturale MusicaVenezia
will present a concert with three versions of “Salve Regina” by G.B. Pergolesi,
Alessandro Scarlatti and Nicola Porpora.
